From 1st July 2007 the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) legislation has applied. This scheme was introduced to reduce the volume of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in landfill sites and instead encourage the recycling of the components and materials.
Recycling unwanted electrical products is better for our environment. Toxins contained in electrical goods can cause soil and water contamination which can have a very harmful effect on the natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.
When the above crossed out wheelie bin symbol is marked on a product or packaging, it indicates you should NOT dispose of that product in your general household waste.
At Captain Cooks we are delighted to offer a like-for-like recycling facility to all customers purchasing a new electrical item. Simply return your old item to the below address within 30 days of purchasing its replacement. Customers wishing to return a WEEE item will be responsible for the cost of postage.

If your old equipment is still in a good working condition you could also consider donating it to a charitable organisation. By doing so you will be extending the life of the product and avoiding additional waste.
